CA Family,

I hope this finds you safe and well. After the governor’s recommendation today for schools to not meet in person for the rest of the school year, we intend to follow that recommendation for the health and safety of all. We will continue online school for the rest of this school year for Jr.K through 12th grade. With that said, administration has determined, and the board supports the decision, that our last day of school will be Friday, May 15 (and May 8 for seniors).

Additionally, upper school students will not have final exams this year. Semester grades will be determined by averaging the third and fourth quarter grades. The TSSAA has canceled all spring sports as well.

One of our highest priorities during this unprecedented time is to properly honor and recognize the outstanding Class of 2020. Although we anticipate having to postpone our May 16 graduation, we are hopeful to do an in-person graduation as soon as safely possible. We will continue to rely on the guidance of the governor and medical professionals, but we strongly desire to give these wonderful students the public recognition and congratulations that they deserve. Our hope is sometime this summer we will be able to celebrate their accomplishments and allow them to enjoy their junior/senior banquet tradition on that weekend as well.

Not being able to meet again for school this year is a difficult situation for all of us. Our faculty and staff are hurting because they love your children and are richly blessed by being able to see their smiling faces and interact with them on a daily basis. I have to mention how proud I am of our staff as they are working extremely hard to provide the best education for your children. Thank you again for helping and supporting them. I am also very proud of our students and their attitude and work.

Please be especially mindful and prayerful for our seniors and the deep loss they are experiencing right now. I’m thankful we serve a God who redeems and saves, and every battle belongs to Him (I Samuel 17:47). Please continue to pray for our country, our leaders, and everyone battling this virus. Thank you for your continued support.

Thank you,
James A. Thomas, Ed.D
